The Artwork

A reference to the metaphor/idiom; a storm in a tea cup. This is an original artwork that was painted in oil on canvas.

The Artist

Why do you create? To create is to breathe and to be fully human. Creativity is freedom and my outlet for self expression.
How do you work? I work intuitively; layer by layer of paint. Each mark determines the next, my painting are like journal entries without words.
Has your creative process changed over time, if so, how? Yes definitely, the more work you do the more you develop as an artist. Each painting is like a stepping stone to the next. I am currently taking a break from oils and experimenting with mixed media on paper and have just started doing pottery classes.
Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time artist? Part-time.
Besides creating, where else do you spend your time? Op shop! Walk along the beach and explore, write.
What inspires you? The mid century modernist aesthetic, modernism, biblical themes, music, many things.
What is the first piece of art you remember creating? My very first painting from art class was called Hourglass.
What does the term art mean to you? Creating something out of nothing.
Name three artists that you respect? Ann Thomson, Waldermar Kobulsz, Helen Frankenthaler
What is your favourite piece of artwork? Too difficult to decide!
What is your dream project? To collaborate with fashion designer
