The Artist

Why do you create? I've been a creative person for all of my life because I couldn't live without art. It was irresistible thirst for self-expression through art.
How do you work? I love the way ideas are coming out of nowhere inspiring me to create some beautiful things. Or beauty in real life and outer environment forms some thoughts and artistic ideas that I crave to express in my art and then there's a challenge to express them precisely and truly. That's how I work, constantly developing my skills and technique, bringing ideas to life, seeking beauty in details.
Has your creative process changed over time, if so, how? For years I was facing new exciting tasks and challenges. I was mastering new techniques and surely my art changes as my experience grows. I try different styles and new fields of art, so this is constantly changing process.
Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time artist? Art has always been my profession and a hobby as well. A lot of fine art was done during my younger years, I've studied painting, drawing, graphics and more. For me fine art is now more like a part-time hobby and digital art, graphical design is a part of my constant full-time work.
Besides creating, where else do you spend your time? Music is my another passion that I'm devoted to. Playing different instruments like sax or guitar, touring with the band, recording some beautiful and wild jazzy, rocky, electronic or psychedelic stuff, taking part in academic avant-garde orchestra — those are the things I love and do from time to time.
What inspires you? For sure I'm constantly amazed and inspired by the variety of most beautiful things, people and places in the world. So many astonishing artists and musicians, beautiful countryside in different foreign and native places, beauty of the nature and an animal grace. Every note of a certain song or every brushstroke of a certain piece of art could awaken the strongest creative impulses.
What is the first piece of art you remember creating? I made my first drawings at the age of three or even earlier. I've been drawing and painting conctantly since then.
What does the term art mean to you? I do believe art is the ability to create an artificial beauty out of a natural one. The state of art that could touch one's soul and heart, something sublime and exquisite, but not just a real world copy.
Name three artists that you respect? John Singer Sargent, Valentin Serov, Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez are three of my favourite artists. Of course there's a lot more but that's it to name a few of them.
What is your favourite piece of artwork? A painting called "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" by Sargent is one of the most inspiring.
What is your dream project? As a painter I think that a project of my dream would be someting huge and numerous, a series of paintings on a certain topic associated with things that I love and that are improtant to me. That's nature, animals, music, history etc. I love portraits, so maybe that could be a series of portraits too.
