The Artwork

Minimalistic photograph taken in a void deck, an empty communal space on the first level of every residential building in Singapore. Part of my Void series; a series of photographs taken with the void deck as the main subject.

The Artist

Why do you create? As a personal reflection of my growth as a person.
How do you work? Preferably alone and with no distractions. See with my heart and eyes.
Has your creative process changed over time, if so, how? I have refined my photographic style as how my personal philosophy has changed over time due to difficulties I've experienced in life. I enjoy having little material wealth. This reflects my minimal approach to photos. I have disdain over people with no concepts behind their work, or their work has no deeper meaning to it that i may ponder over. This also reflects my desire to only photograph if it would create conversations in people's minds.
Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time artist? Part-time due to enlistment into the army for now.
Besides creating, where else do you spend your time? Enjoying spoken word poetry. Walking. Watching changes, be it as minute as a leaf falling.
What inspires you? Photographers with their own motives to photography that isn't fame or fortune, but their own desire to express their inner thoughts.
What is the first piece of art you remember creating? Shadows dancing in the moonlight, yet the couple who own the shadows don't know each other and were passing each other by.
What does the term art mean to you? Someone's problems or thoughts laid bare for the world to see and reflect over.
Name three artists that you respect? Rene Magritte, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Neil Hilborn.
What is your favourite piece of artwork? Treachery of Images by Rene Magritte.
What is your dream project? A project on nothingness.
