The Artwork

A portrait of one of the most adorable women in filmbusiness: Unforgettable Sophia Loren.

The Artist

Why do you create? I am a professional grafic designer. But sometimes things need to be done, which aren't businessrelated. So I startet doing digital artwork a few years ago, where I can work more open minded and do all the stuff, not sellable in the world of advertising ;-)
How do you work? Usually I do things in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Mostly I work with photos and pics I made myself, sometimes I use inspirations like pictures from movies or museums.
Has your creative process changed over time, if so, how? Hopefully it changes all the times! As in every thing I do, I allways want to get better in what I'm doing!
Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time artist? Neither – Nor. I consider myself as a professional Graphic Designer who does Art, when he has time leftover which are clients not willing to pay for.
Besides creating, where else do you spend your time? Mostly just hanging around. In climbing areas all over Austria and northern Italy. I love climbing. Especially since my kids are able to join :-)
What inspires My kids for example – kids are so creative, they inspire not only the art I'm working, but also my businessrelated designs!
And of course the KHM – The Museum of Art – in Vienna. Its an unbelievable place of inspiring things. If you are in Vienna sometimes, come and teke a lokk for yourself.
What is the first piece of art you remember creating? I still own some of my masterpieces from Kindergarden – so probably it goes back a while ;-)
What does the term art mean to you? Art is something we can't argue about. It's only there. And it exists because we all are in need of art. It doesn't matter if someone likes what you are doing as long as it is good for you. I don't care about "ugly" or "good, solid skills" – art should not be something for the "elite" – art grows everyday everywhere for everybody.
Name three artists that you respect? Alex Katz, Paul Flora, Albin Egger Lienz
What is your favourite piece of artwork? Hard to say, because there ar so many things :-) But I really do like the drawings of Paul Flora as example. And the monumental paintings from Albin Egger Lienz of course!
What is your dream project? I don't dream, I do.
