The Artwork

On a cool winters day, I was walking listening to some Boccherini (La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid). As I was walking I noticed the only warmth seemed to come from the light of a violin workshop. Being a photographer I looked in and couldn’t believe my eyes when I did. These violins sitting on an old work bench waiting to be fixed and tuned. I asked the old guy who owned the store if I could take a photo or two. "He said yes let me clear the desk for you”. I said please no, what ever you do leave everything the way it is, this is perfect. I wouldn’t have even thought to arrange the violins like that. I pointed out the shadows of notes to him. I ran home, grabbed my camera gear and ran back to the store sucking in all the oxygen in the air from around me. I knew this would always be one of my favourite images I will ever take. I absolutely love this image and am super passionate about sharing it with you here on Artify.

The Artist

I have been working as a professional international photographer/photojournalist since 1992. My work is my breath, my passion and my expression. My process and concepts lay in part in early western philosophical texts. These texts assist me to come up with final the interpretation for my images. Through my work as a working professional photographer, it has been an amazing journey for just over 25 years now. Not only in Australia but also world wide. These days I mostly reside in Europe, I enjoy my work exploring the fabric of life through contemporary and historical culture, landscapes interiors and street shooting and so much more..

Already a Knight of Saint Michael of the Wing and of the Royal House of Portugal, in 2017 I was made a Knight of the Imperial and Royal Russian Order of St. Stanislaus and a noble in the Imperial House of Romanov for photographic services to H.I.H the Grand Duchess of Russia. Also in 2017, I was awarded a medal of Honour from the Real Academis Sancti Ambrosii Martyris for my photographic work and services. In the same ceremony I was also awarded the prestigious Medalha Marechal Trompowsky from the Brazilian Goverment in conjunction with the Real Academis Sancti Ambrosii Martyris for photographic work and services to nobility and chivalric orders internationally.

My main inspirations for my work are: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle Marcus Aurelius, Dante Alighieri, Voltaire, Shakespeare, William Turner, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Van Gogh, Klimt, Frederick McCubbin and Sir Arthur Streeton.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy seeking the images out and bringing them to you.
