The Artwork

This work was inspired from the unpredictability and power of the ocean. Sometimes the waves can present a ferocity with predatory like swiftness of a dragon.

The Artist

Why do you create? There is an energy that comes from within me that I feel a strong need to express creatively. I enjoy the challenge of exploring new subjects and mediums. It's the journey of the process then the reaction my art evokes.
How do you work? From concepts to canvas directly, rarely do I work from sketches. Applying paint to canvas immediately then working my shapes and form as it dries.
Has your creative process changed over time, if so, how? Coming from a commercial background in advertising I was restrained by client specific guidelines. Now venturing further into the fine art genre I find my creative license limitless.
Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time artist? Lending my time between design and art I would consider myself a full time artist.
Besides creating, where else do you spend your time? Spending time with nature is one of my favourite pastimes as well as appreciating art and music even literature that others have blessed our world with.
What inspires you? Nature, Emotion, Colour. The ability to exaggerate a scenery with artistic license.
What is the first piece of art you remember creating? When I was a child I did a little portrait of my baby cousin. Ink on paper.
What does the term art mean to you? A reason for expression, a communicative vehicle for reaching out to others and maybe changing a perspective. Inspiring ideas and change.
Name three artists that you respect? Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso, Andy Warhola
What is your favourite piece of artwork? The Great Wave at Kanagawa by Hokusai
What is your dream project? To work on set design in the film industry.
